Amsterdam : REVIEW – Hotel CC

Amsterdam : REVIEW – Hotel CC
Picking a hotel for your travel destination can be the most exciting AND stressful part of your travel planning. However, if you can figure out what’s the main purpose of your stay (ie: you want a total relaxing me-time in a luxurious setting with spa facilities or you want to try out the hotel’s dine in services, or maybe you just a place to crash after a long day).
In this post, I will tell you exactly why I chose Hotel CC for my trip to Amsterdam — I’ll be honest though, if you are more interested in luxury accommodations, this hotel would not be for you. But if you are looking for a comfortable stay to explore Amsterdam, carry on with this review to see if the hotel is worth your money.

ABOUT

A boutique hotel situated along one of the most famous canals in Amsterdam — yes, that means certain rooms offer canal views! Built within a picturesque and monumental Amsterdam canal house, this hotel features a mixture of modern facilities and historical interior, such as air conditioner in every room with wooden beams or old windows. Hotel CC is literally a stone throw away from all major tourist attractions and central station.

LOCATION

I try to save money on transportation (because I usually end up overspending on food, duh) so location is KEY! So, where exactly is Hotel CC?
Warmoesstraat 42, 1012 JE, Amsterdam, Netherlands.

Hotel CC is situated right smack in the city centre of Amsterdam. Everything and everywhere is practically within walking distance. Restaurants, cafes, shopping district Nieuwendijk-Kalverstraat, bars, Red-Light District — all of these are just around the corner! This hotel does however have a non-smoking policy but not to worry, there are numerous coffeshops (obviously not for coffee) nearby — like just a door or two away.

Because of it’s close proximity to the central station, it really is as easy as ABC to get to this hotel even when you’re flying into Amsterdam.

ROOM

Ah, the best part! Apart from staying at a hotel that’s conveniently located, I also chose Hotel CC specifically for a room with this view!

I was initially booked for a single bedded room but I upgraded to a standard double last minute to fit the both of us. More on that later kay.

I was expecting a normal standard double room with just a normal standard window that’s maaaaybe facing the canal so you can imagine how excited I was when I first opened the door to this. The room given to us was situated underground and I love that this modern room has a split level, going up just a couple steps to get to what we called “our mini lounge area“. It had huge windows with French doors that open onto the canal. This particular room is unique as there is no other like it. It’s descent, charming and very cosy for the two of us and of course, it would be even more comfortable for you solo travellers as well.

The room is pretty much equipped with all the basic necessities you’d need like air conditioner, heater, coat hangers, safe box, complimentary drinks such as bottled water, coffee & tea, dressing table and stool, double bed (which was surprisingly  comfortable for a good night sleep by the way) and all that EXCEPT for a refridgerator and a proper wardrobe/closet. I can literally count how many times I’ve travelled light in my life (okay, once) so I wasn’t too pleased with the latter. You do get storage places but as you can see, they’re pretty much those open spaces by the bed etcetera so keep in mind that the room can no longer look like a minimalist inspo once you’ve unloaded that luggage.

The bathroom is relatively small but it wouldn’t be the first time I’ve encountered similar size bathrooms throughout Europe. I mean, it served us well, did its job so I’m not mad at all! The hotel provided the basic amenities for your comfort like towels, toilet rolls, tissue, shower gel & shampoo and also a hairdryer. And yes, there’s hot water for the shower too, I can confirm that.

If waking up early to serenity is your thing, you’d probably love this room as much as I do. Right before I start my day, I’d stick my face out the window and feel the cold soft breeze, accompanied by.. hungry seagulls. ANYWAY! We had no problem with other noises but that could be due to the position of our room. We’ve seen some reviews of room facing the front with some noise issues, so just keep that in mind.

CLEANLINESS

Let me get things straight : I once made my whole family move to another hotel in the middle of night because I spotted a baby roach lounging on my pillow just as I was about to call it a night. So rest assured I wouldn’t be bunking in if a hotel did not “up” its hygiene game.

From the moment we stepped into the hotel to the day that we checked out, we were very pleased with how the hotel kept its cleanliness. No insects or rodent in sight (thank God!) Barely any dust around because both of us are blessed with overly sensitive noses that could detect dust and its cousins the moment we step into any premises. There were no musty smell whatsoever coming from the carpet and other fabrics in the room. No unidentified stains on the towels, bedsheets or pillows. Our bathroom was spotless when we arrived. Both the room and the public areas of the hotel were kept neat and tidy at all times. No traces of smoke too in the room so, safe to say, I APPROVE!

SERVICE AND STAFF

The little backstory I promised :

Initially, I was only scheduled for a short meeting in Amsterdam for this trip so I booked a single-bedded room for ONE night — it was sort of meant to be like a transit for me before moving on to the next destination. A week before, I was told that my meeting was brought forward so I decided to book a couple nights extra ahead, you know, to find my inner zen since I’d be flying in the midst of coronavirus concerns. All the single rooms were taken for those additional dates so I opted for the standard double room. I got in touch with them to request for a room overlooking the canal like in the photos on the net. No guarantees were made but they mentioned that they will try their best to comply. THEN AT THE VERY LAST MINUTE, I found out I wasn’t going to be flying solo so I had to make amendments for the bookings AGAIN at which, the hotel made no fuss about — phew!

After all the going back and forth to secure our room, the friendly hotel staffs remained calm and were more than happy to accommodate us. I reminded them of my request when we were checking in — they gave us THE best room and for that I am so thankful. They were all smiles from day one to our last day there. Plus, someone was always stationed at the reception to help us with whatever we needed, be it day or night. I truly cannot fault the lovely services provided by the Hotel CC staffs.

OVERALL,

We were very happy with out short stay at Hotel CC. It’s definitely a good accommodation if you’re looking for a convenient fuss-free stay in the heart of Amsterdam city.

Prices for each room fluctuates depending on the season (as per with any other hotels) so it’s best that you check out these websites AND with Hotel CC themselves to get the best deal.
